Science Olympiad at MIT is an undergraduate student group founded in fall 2013 by Connor Duffy ’17 and Kenny Friedman ’17 with one mission: to take everything they learned competing in Science Olympiad to create the best invitational experience possible. After spending that first year learning the ins and outs of hosting a tournament and gathering a group of passionate volunteers, they were ready. So on January 24, 2015, in spite of untimely fire alarms, in defiance of a snowstorm, and undeterred by scoring room chaos, they did it. They hosted the first ever MIT Science Olympiad Invitational. Now the tournament has become an annual affair, run by a devoted team of former Science Olympians excited to share their memories with the next generation of competitors.
